Let’s start with what a PDF is.
PDF stands for Portable Document Format.
So, what does that mean?
PDF files were developed by Adobe in 1993 to present documents that were independent of any operating system, software or hardware. What this means is, it didn’t matter if you were using a Mac computer or a PC (Android), you could read a document that was created as a PDF.
Adobe created Acrobat Reader as free software for the reading of PDF files. It is still one of the most popular applications for reading PDF files on either Mac or PC devices.
PDF files are still widely used as a means of sending documents via email.
